Photographer, musician, model, painter, etc. To put it simply; Carly Foulkes is our dream girl. We visited her magical home in Los Angeles to talk about her art practice, inspirations and what's up next for her.

Where did you grow up? How did you make your way to Los Angeles?

I grew up in Toronto, Canada. I moved to New York City when I was 18 and stayed for 10 years before heading west to Los Angeles! I now split my time between both cities.

You’re a model but also a working photographer, how do you juggle being on both sides of the lens?

It’s the best of both worlds. I have to create in order to feel sane so modeling alone doesn’t cut it. Being behind the camera allows me to create and execute concepts and ideas that I can’t do if I’m modeling. Modeling pays the bills. Photography is my passion.

Your art practice goes beyond photography. You also work with other mediums such as textiles, collage, and even music. What keeps you inspired?

So many things. Nature, the human condition, love, pain. Life.

You’re about to release a new music project… what can listeners expect?

I am! They can expect some sad songs haha. My dear friend Joel Schearer produced my first single that will be out in a month!

Favorite day trip when you want to run away from LA?

Joshua Tree!
